Journal: SCLS Law Review

1. Scope and Eligibility

The SCLS Law Review is a freely available, open-access online journal that publishes scholarly articles. The SCLS Law Review will provide a unique forum for all those who are interested in legal studies to present their scholarly contributions. The unique offering of the SCLS Law Review is that it allows for publication on multi-dimensional legal studies. In addition, it proactively encourages analytical and comparative studies. Papers that investigate legal issues from single or multiple vantage points whether topically or jurisdictionally are equally welcomed, as are papers examining law-related interdisciplinary work.

The journal is intended as a showcase for legal scholars from undergraduate and postgraduate students and early career scholars to well-established academics and legal practitioners.

2. Editorial Board

The SCLS Review is run by Senior Law students, assisted by an Academic member of SCLS, and advised by hon’ble faculty members of the Faculty of Law, University of Chittagong.

3. Submission and Editorial Process

All submissions are subject to a double-blind peer review process. After an initial reading by the Editorial Board to establish suitability, we shall operate a two-stage peer review process. Firstly, an appointed reviewer is invited to comment on the manuscript. As per the requirement of the double-blind peer review process, the reviewer shall be unaware of the identity of the author. Depending on their recommendations, we shall accept, advise minor revisions, request major revisions and resubmission, or reject. When amendments are advised, we will agree on a deadline with the author for returning the revised manuscript to us. In the case of major revision, we will approach one of the previous peer reviewers to consider the piece again. Once their comments have been returned then we make a final decision to accept or reject further minor revisions.

4. Electronic Submission

All submissions must be submitted online and through e-mail. The journal does not accept hardcopy submissions.

5. Author Guidelines

Authors must submit their Bio and manuscript, including the title and abstract, through the SCLS email account: sclseditorial@gmail.com. To assist with the blind peer review process, the author must submit their bio in a separate document. The manuscript must not contain any information about the author.

6. Word Count

Word limits for different categories of write-ups are as follows:
• Long Article: 5000 to 8000 words
• Short Article: 4000 to 5000 words
• Case Comment, Case Review, and Book Review: 2500 to 4000 words

7. Copyright

Those who contribute items to SCLS Law Review retain author copyright in their work but are asked to grant a license to the SCLS enabling us to reproduce the item in digital form, so that it can be made available for access online in the open journal system and repository and website. Articles accepted for a Volume will be published as a pdf bound whole volume as well as in hyperlinked HTML version. The terms of the licence which you are asked to grant to SCLS for this purpose are as follows:

‘I grant to the SCLS the irrevocable, non-exclusive royalty-free right to reproduce, distribute, display, and perform this work in any format including electronic formats throughout the world for educational, research, and scientific non-profit uses during the full term of copyright including renewals and extensions’

8. Preparation of Submissions

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission’s compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. All submissions must be accompanied by an abstract of no more than 300 words.
2. You promise warrant that the article is your original work and submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
3. If it contains material which is someone else’s copyright, you promise that you have obtained the unrestricted permission of the copyright owner (please attach evidence of this) and that the material is clearly identified and acknowledged within the text. You also promise that the article does not, to the best of your knowledge, contain anything which is libelous, illegal, or infringes anyone’s copyright or other rights.
4. The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
5. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
6. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point Times New Roman font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
7. Style of submissions must be of academic standards and constant throughout the manuscripts. American English spelling should be used.
